Swedish Survival Phrases Lesson 41 - Say where you're from in Swedish.
In today's lesson, we'll introduce you to a phrase that will provide you with the tools to learn from the people around. Now, a dictionary is great but don’t forget that you could use Swedish to learn in a more fun and interactive way.
In Swedish, "I'm American" is Jag är amerikan.
Jag är amerikan.
Let's break it down by syllable: Jag är amerikan.
Now, let's hear it once again: Jag är amerikan.
The first word Jag means "I."
Let's break down this word and hear it one more time: Jag.
Jag.
This is followed by Är, which in Swedish is "am."
Är.
Är.
So, to recap here, we have Jag är. Literally, this mean "I am."
Let’s take a look at the next word: Amerikan, which means "American."
Amerikan.
Amerikan.
So, all together, we have Jag är amerikan. Literally, this means "I am American."
Just replace Amerikan with whatever you are, and you got yourself a valid sentence.
