Lesson focus

Swedish Survival Phrases lesson 18 - Bargaining in Sweden.
Today’s phrase is related to the phrase “How much?” which in Swedish is Vad kostar det? In the previous lesson, we also introduced “How much is this?” (Vad kostar det här?) and “How much is that?” (Vad kostar det där?), two more useful phrases.
Today’s phrase is used when you are at one of the most exciting places in any country around the world, the market. When you come to Sweden, one of the most interesting and fun things to do is haggle at the market. So, when you’re at the market and talking prices, there is another phrase that will come in very handy. This phrase is “”Lower the price, please.”
In Swedish, “Lower the price, please” is Sänk priset, tack.
Sänk priset, tack.
Let’s break it down by syllable: Sänk priset, tack.
Now, let’s hear it once again, Sänk priset, tack.
The first word, sänk, means “lower.”
Let’s break down this word and hear it one more time: sänk.
sänk
This is followed by priset, which in Swedish is “the price.”
priset
priset
priset
Another phrase that can be used in combination with this is “too expensive” which in Swedish is Det är för dyrt.
Det är för dyrt.
Let’s break this down by syllable: Det är för dyrt.
Now, let’s hear it once again, Det är för dyrt.

Outro
