Listeners, can you remember what you did yesterday? Anything special? Let us know using the past tense in Swedish!

Hej igen Evan!

Thank you for writing back!

Saying "thanks for the advice" in Swedish is fairly easy, you say, "tack för rådet".

Sounds like you were pretty busy yesterday teaching five classes. Your sentence is almost perfect, great job! You only need to change the preposition "av" to "i". Swedish prepositions can be a bit tricky since they are not always used in the same way as in English. We do however talk about how they are used in some of our lessons and I am certain that you will come to master them in no time!

Tack! (Hur säger man, "Thanks for the advice" på svenska?)

Igår undervisade jag en klass av band och fyra klasser av geometri.

English: Thanks! How does one say, "Thanks for the advice" in Swedish?

Yesterday I taught a class of band and four classes of geometry.

Hej Even!

Thank you for your comment and great work!

What kind of classes did you taught?

Your sentence is almost perfect, but I would like to give you two tips.

When you use an time adverb such as "yesterday" introduce a sentence in Swedish the word order change so that the adverb is followed by the verb which is then followed by the subject. So instead of saying "igår jag lärde fem klasser" you would say, "igår lärde jag fem klasser".

You have used the correct form of the verb "att lära" ! Great work! The verb "att lära" can initially be a bit complicated to use since it can both correspond to "teach" and "learn" depending on how you use it. In order to make it less complicated, I would suggest that you instead use the Swedish verb "undervisade" which in this sentence corresponds better to the English verb "taught". To say "yesterday I taught five classes" would therefore be "igår undervisade jag fem klasser".

Keep up the good work and let us know if you have any question!
