Sydney: This is Must-Know Swedish Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 12. In this lesson, you'll learn common slang verbs, part 4.
Sydney: Here are some more Swedish slang verbs that are used on an almost daily basis.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Sydney: The expressions you will be learning in this lesson are:
Jesper: att skamma
Jesper: att hänga
Jesper: att dissa
Jesper: att inte palla
Sydney: Jesper, what's our first expression?
Jesper: att skamma
Sydney: It means "to scam."
Jesper: [SLOW] att skamma [NORMAL] att skamma
Sydney: Listeners, please repeat.

Sydney: Use this slang expression when talking about someone being scammed.
Sydney: Now let's hear an example sentence.
Jesper: [NORMAL] Akta dig för det där företaget, jag har hört att de skammar folk. [SLOW] Akta dig för det där företaget, jag har hört att de skammar folk.
Sydney: "Watch out for that company, I've heard that they're scamming people."
Jesper: [NORMAL] Akta dig för det där företaget, jag har hört att de skammar folk.
Sydney: Okay, what's the next expression?
Jesper: att hänga
Sydney: literally meaning "to hang." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to hang out."
Jesper: [SLOW] att hänga [NORMAL] att hänga
Sydney: Listeners, please repeat.

Sydney: Use this slang expression when you're hanging out with a friend and spending time together.
Jesper: Do not mix this up with the phrase att hänga med which means "to tag along."
Sydney: Now let's hear an example sentence.
Jesper: [NORMAL] Vill du hänga ett tag imorgon kväll? [SLOW] Vill du hänga ett tag imorgon kväll?
Sydney: "Would you like to hang out for a while tomorrow night?"
Jesper: [NORMAL] Vill du hänga ett tag imorgon kväll?
Sydney: Okay, what's our next expression?
Jesper: att dissa
Sydney: literally meaning "to diss." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to diss, to disrespect someone, to ignore someone, to turn someone away."
Jesper: [SLOW] att dissa [NORMAL] att dissa
Sydney: Listeners, please repeat.
Jesper: att dissa

Sydney: Use this slang expression when talking about ignoring or turning away someone. It can also mean to disrespect someone.
Sydney: Now let's hear an example sentence.
Jesper: [NORMAL] Kan du sluta dissa mig hela tiden? [SLOW] Kan du sluta dissa mig hela tiden?
Sydney: "Could you stop turning me away all the time? "
Jesper: [NORMAL] Kan du sluta dissa mig hela tiden?
Sydney: You can also use the word "dissig" as an adjective. For example…
Jesper: [NORMAL] Skit i honom, han är dissig mot alla. [SLOW] Skit i honom, han är dissig mot alla.
Sydney: "Nevermind him, he's disrespectful to everyone."
Jesper: [NORMAL] Skit i honom, han är dissig mot alla.
Sydney: Okay, what's the last expression?
Jesper: att inte palla
Sydney: It means "to not be bothered."
Jesper: [SLOW] att inte palla [NORMAL] att inte palla

Sydney: Use this slang expression when you can't be bothered to do something because it's too much work. Or when you don't have the energy to do something.
Sydney: Now let's hear an example sentence.
Jesper: [NORMAL] Jag pallar inte plugga mer idag! [SLOW] Jag pallar inte plugga mer idag!
Sydney: "I can't face doing any more studying today."
Jesper: [NORMAL] Jag pallar inte plugga mer idag!
