Swedish Survival Phrases lesson 20 - Using the Internet in Sweden.
In today’s lesson, we’ll learn about a place crucial to your travels in this modern age, the internet café. In Swedish, internet café is internet café.
internet café.
There are many of them located throughout the cities, so finding one should be no problem. However, so that things go smoothly once inside, I would guide you through the internet café experience.
In Sweden, when you walk into the store, approach the reception desk and tell them what you’re there for. Just say internet.
internet
Let’s break it down by syllable: internet.
internet
They will most likely ask you for how long you wanna stay, so be prepared.
In Swedish, “For how long?” is Hur länge?
Hur länge?
The first word, hur, means “how.”
Let’s break down this word and hear it one more time.
hur
hur
This is followed by länge, which in Swedish is “long.”
länge
länge
So all together, we have Hur länge?
Literally, this means “How long?”
They will most likely put it on the tab and charge you right away. The price is usually about 10 kr to 30 kr per hour. The price is all inclusive for the time you stay there. Some places have a discount for long stays like 100 kr for 10 hours, but that’s usually only the cafés with gaming.
Another system-critical question for all you laptop-packing world trekkers is “Does this store have WiFi? In Swedish, this is Finns det trådlöst internet här?
Finns det trådlöst internet här?
Let’s break it down by syllable: Finns det trådlöst internet här?
The first part, finns det, means “is there.”
Let’s break down this part and hear it one more time, finns det.
finns det
This is followed by trådlöst, which in Swedish is “wireless.”
trådlöst
trådlöst
trådlöst
Then comes internet, which means, yeah, “internet.”
This is followed by här, which in Swedish means “here.”
här
här
här
So all together, we have Finns det trådlöst internet här?
Literally, this means “Is there wireless internet here?”
And finally, here is one more phrase that might prove useful, “Password and username, please.” In Swedish, “Password and username, please” is Lösenord och användarnamn, tack.
Let’s break it down by syllable: Lösenord och användarnamn, tack.
Now, let’s hear it once again, Lösenord och användarnamn, tack.
The first word, lösenord, means “password.”
Let’s break down this word and hear it one more time: lösenord.
lösenord
Then comes och, which means “and.”
och
This is followed by användarnamn, which in Swedish is “username.”
användarnamn
användarnamn
And lastly, we have “please,” which is tack in Swedish.
So all together, we have Lösenord och användarnamn, tack.
Literally, this means “Password and username, please.”
