Hej Adolf,

Vi säger "åksjuk". (We say "åksjuk." :innocent:

For example: Jag blir alltid åksjuk när jag åker bil länge. (I always get motion sick when I'm riding in a car for a long time.)

Hej Adolf,

Du har rätt. (You're right.)

Från Malmö till Stockholm så måste man ta tåg. (From Malmö to Stockholm you need to take a train.) Men det går också bra att köra bil. (But driving is also okay.)

Från Thorildsplan till Gamla Stan så måste man åka tunnelbana. (From Thorildsplan to Old Town you need to take the subway.)

Ha det bra!

Hej Peggy!

Thank you for your question!

You are absolutely right that g usually take a j sound before a soft vowel like e. I belive that the reason why the word "tåget" does not follow this rule is because it's the definite singular of " ett tåg" so when the ending "et" is added the original pronunciation does not change. This is also true for nouns such as "degen" (the dough) and "sågen" (the saw) who both have a g that is pronounced as a g and not a j since they in their indefinite singular form are "en deg" (a dough) and "en såg" (a saw).

I hope this helped!

Cheers,

Hej!

Could you answer a pronunciation question, please?

1. Why is the g in tåget pronounced as a hard g not as a y? Doesn't the g usually takes the y sound before soft vowels like e?

I would expect tåget to be pronounced "tå-yet".

Tack så mycket!
