Swedish Survival Phrases lesson 24 - Riding the Train in Sweden Part I.
Sweden has a highly-developed rail system interconnecting the countries, and one could use this to get around.
In today's lesson, we’ll go over reserving a seat and some ticket options. Let’s work on getting the ticket. We can accomplish this by asking, “Ticket to [destination], please” where the destination is your desired destination. In today’s lesson, we’ll use Malmö Centralstation.
In Swedish, “station” is station.
Let’s break it down by syllable: station.
Now, let’s hear it once again, station.
So our location is Malmö Centralstation.
So, in Swedish, “Ticket to Malmö Central Station, please” is En biljett till Malmö Centralstation, tack.
En biljett till Malmö Centralstation, tack.
Let’s break it down by syllable: En biljett till Malmö Centralstation, tack.
Now, let’s hear it once again, En biljett till Malmö Centralstation, tack.
The first word, en, means “one.”
The next word is biljett, which in Swedish means “ticket.”
Let’s break down this word and hear it one more time, biljett.
biljett
This is followed by till, which in Swedish is “to.”
till
till
till
So, to recap here, we have En biljett till…
Literally, this means “One ticket to…”
From this, you just add the location to where you’re traveling. In this case, this is “Malmö Central Station” Malmö Centralstation.
So all together, we have En biljett till Malmö Centralstation, tack.
Literally, this means “One ticket to Malmö Central Station, please.”
There are several different tickets for travelling inside Sweden, so stop by SurvivalPhrases.com to find additional information about those in the post. If you’re travelling with train around Europe, there is one ticket called Interrail, which is a cooperation between different train companies. Sweden is a part of its cooperation, so if you get yourself one of these tickets, be sure to visit Sweden. The most common tickets for travelling inside Sweden are first class,. second class, and last minute. Last minute is for those who haven’t turned 26, a student, or retired.

Outro

Okay, to close out today’s lesson, we'd like for you to practice what you've just learned. I'll provide you with the English equivalent of the phrase and you're responsible for saying it aloud. You’ll have a few seconds before I give you the answer, so lycka till. That means “good luck” in Swedish. Ok, here we go!
